I am yet another German guy. I got the equivalent of a Master's degree in computer science in Karlsruhe, then spent a couple of years working as a consultant (mainly fiddling with the electronic trading system XETRA at the Frankfurt stock exchange), then went to the Universiteit Utrecht to do my PhD in music information retrieval. I am currently working in Vienna, doing more music retrieval research. This is related to one of my web projects: Musipedia (www.musipedia.org), a collaboratively edited dictionary of musical themes that is searchable based on melody and/or rhythm.
