[Cz-editcouncil] Resolution 0002: adopt by unanimous consent?

The Chair thanks the two members who co-sponsored the resolution.

In the interest of efficiency, if there is no objection, the Council will
adopt the resolution by general (or unanimous) consent.

Our just-approved Rules of Procedure has specified Robert's Rules 10e as our
parliamentary authority.  As Robert's Rules states (Sect. 4, p. 52ff), if
there seems to be no opposition to a proposal, the Chair may state, "If
there is no objection..."  If, after a pause, no member calls out, "I
object," then the action is decided upon.

The Chair stipulates that a "pause," online, is 24 hours (minimum).

Therefore, the Chair gives the Council until Friday at 5 PM Eastern (31
hours from now) to object.  If there is no objection by that time, Dr.
Sarbadhikari will become our new Secretary at that time.  If there is an
objection, however, we will begin the usual prescribed process.

The Chair notes that a portion of the 31 hours given for raising objections
falls within the weekend hours.  If there is no objection, we will ignore
the rule stating that business must not be conducted during the weekend
hours.  If there *is* an objection on this point, we will close the vote at
Monday, 4 PM Eastern (9 PM UTC), which will give the Council exactly 24
non-weekend hours to object.
