Dear Larry, dear all,

withdrawing resolution 0008 is the only possible way - this is at least my point of view. (Aside: the link to the table of motions does not work, even if inserted.)

I have the impression that the frame of our work is not defined sufficiently. There are things you cannot plan right from the start - they have to be found out by experience. Editcouncil members should have duties, and voting should be included.

Within the existing system, the quorum number is too high. I do not think that the quorum should be redefined, but the rules ought to be changed, so that there is more obligation.

At the moment, people can vote negative without having discussed. This does not make much sense. If someone agrees completely with a resolution, he can vote without discussion, but not if he disagrees. We should all learn from his arguments against the resolution.

There is no rule how to handle longer absence. We do not know which of the non-voters are absent. This is another reason why voting is so difficult.

One point for the author of a resolution: A resolution can be summarized when announced - it can be pointed out why this resolution is so necessary. If this text is short and simple, voters are motivated. But motivation alone is not sufficient.

A last thought: The system is becoming very complex, most of all the administration part. It will soon be necessary to check the accessibility of the system regularly because we are wearing professional blinkers. I doubt that it will be easy for new editcouncil members. What might help is a kind of mapping the internal system.

So this was all out of schedule and not numbered, but I just wanted to comment the situation
