[Cz-physics] We need an article that defines the local gravitational acceleration of 9.807 metres per second

Mechanical, chemical and aerospace engineers as well as others routinely
use equations in fluid dynamics that involve the local gravitational
acceleration of g= 9.807metres per second.
Citizendium needs a very simple, plain English article, of perhaps two
or three paragraphs at most, defining the local gravitational
acceleration. Something as simple as the Wikipedia article at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_acceleration . Such an
article would eliminate many of the red links that are or will be
contained in many engineering artcles.
Citizendium already has an article entitled "Gravitation", but it is
devoted to the universal gravitational constant G and general relativity
theory. The article I am asking for should avoid those subjects ... just
define g and use plain English.
Would one of you physicists please take an hour or so to write such an
article? I am a chemical engineer and I am not sure that I could do it
as well as one of you.
Thanks in advance,
Milton Beychok
