From sanger at citizendium.org Mon Feb 18 15:19:37 2008 From: sanger at citizendium.org (Larry Sanger) Date: Mon, 18 Feb 2008 16:19:37 -0500 Subject: [Cz-religion] Prem Rawat & Jossi Fresco Message-ID: <004d01c87273$f7fbd0e0$0202a8c0@D7WRQ591> All, If you'll examine the following article, http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/06/the_cult_of_wikipedia/ you'll see that one Jossi Fresco was (and apparently still is) very closely related to Prem Rawat (aka Majaraji). He has joined CZ http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/User:Jossi_Fresco has taken an unusual interest in our own Prem Rawat article, http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/TI:Prem_Rawat which I moved to the topic informant (TI) namespace. Could I ask someone--whether you're a member of the Topic Informant Workgroup, the Religion Workgroup, or the Constabulary--to review all of Jossi Fresco's contributions, here http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Jossi_Fresco and move all Prem Rawat-related pages, as appropriate, to the TI: namespace? If there are any more to move (as I suspect there are), please be sure to add a link to the page from the Topic Informant Workgroup. I do know that there are subpages of the Prem Rawat article that still need to be moved. We should probably just remove the {{subpages}} templates altogether and "manually" link the article with its subpages, since the subpage template won't work within the TI: namespace. That's no great trouble, really. If you can take a little time to get "on top of this," won't you please write back the groups in the "to" line and let us all know that you've got it handled, to make sure no one starts to redo your work? Finally, to any Religion Workgroup editors who have read this far: since in the opinion of some Prem Rawat is the head of a "cult," and as cult leaders frequently have idiosyncratic "takes" on common topics (to put it nicely), I think we should doublecheck the information in all of these articles. Thanks in advance! --Larry From RStockman at usbnc.org Mon Feb 18 15:30:52 2008 From: RStockman at usbnc.org (Stockman, Robert) Date: Mon, 18 Feb 2008 15:30:52 -0600 Subject: [Cz-religion] [SPAM] - Prem Rawat & Jossi Fresco - Bayesian Filter detected spam In-Reply-To: <004d01c87273$f7fbd0e0$0202a8c0@D7WRQ591> References: <004d01c87273$f7fbd0e0$0202a8c0@D7WRQ591> Message-ID: <2F7A0280821D1746ADD715EA186DDB5202A4F3FD@us-bncpo1.usbnc.org> On January 3, 2008 I received a suggested article about Prem Rawat from someone who felt strongly that our article had biases. I am not sure the biases he pointed out were large (I exchanged a series of emails with him over two months) and encouraged him to write something that I could look at. Unfortunately, all of January I was occupied with launching a new educational website and we are still digging out from the complications, so I haven't been able to get back to him. Making it more complicated is the issue of anonymity; I am not sure this person who sent me an article wants his name spread around because he himself is known to have problems with Prem Rawat. I know so little about the subject that I do not feel qualified to make judgments about the original article (which I did read) or the proposed article (which I have not). It is very hard to know what one should do when articles appear to have biases. The Wikipedia approach is to make sure both sides are argued, but then one has articles that deal with just about every imaginable controversy imaginable by giving both sides. An unbiased observer usually wouldn't bother writing about the various controversies at all, or would give them limited space. -- Robert Stockman -----Original Message----- From: Larry Sanger [mailto:sanger at citizendium.org] Sent: Monday, February 18, 2008 3:20 PM To: czinternal-topic at citizendium.org; cz-religion at citizendium.org; czinternal-constable at citizendium.org Cc: czinternal-exec at citizendium.org Subject: [SPAM] - [Cz-religion] Prem Rawat & Jossi Fresco - Bayesian Filter detected spam All, If you'll examine the following article, http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/06/the_cult_of_wikipedia/ you'll see that one Jossi Fresco was (and apparently still is) very closely related to Prem Rawat (aka Majaraji).
