Yes, I will accept responsibility for this. Obviously I can't check the actual live LocalSettings.php, but as long as you (and anyone else such as Greg who makes such edits) do indeed post on BugZilla about any changes I will keep the wiki file updated.

Subject: Re: [Cz-tech] LocalSettings.php
I have put up a version of LocalSettings.php that tracks the live wiki settings here:
http://test.citizendium.org/wiki/User:Dan_Nessett/_Sandboxes/Sandbox_3
In order for the php code to display correctly, I had to install the GeShi Syntax Highlight extension on the test wiki.
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi
This extension isn't on the live wiki, so we can't post the code there yet.
I had to edit this version of LocalSettings.php because the live wiki uses a different directory structure than the repository and test wiki versions. These changes are cosmetic and do not affect the behavior of the executing wiki.
Will you accept responsibility for tracking changes to LocalSettings.php and modify the posted version? This will require you to do the following:
+ Act as a monitor to ensure I don't make changes to the live wiki (except for emergency situations) without the existence of an enhancement request on Bugzilla. You can monitor the Technical Issues forum and Tech Staff Announcements for discussions and remind everyone that enhancements require a Bugzilla request.
+ When I change the live wiki, I will document that change in the Bugzilla enhancement request. If this involves changes to LocalSettings.php, you will modify the wiki version of LocalSettings.php. You can move the text in my Sandbox to a suitable sub-page of CZ:Technical on the test wiki. You can also create an enhancement request to install the SyntaxHighlight extension on the live wiki and open up a thread on Technical Issues asking for comments about installing the extension there. Once we have community buy-in for the installation, we can do that and move the tracking LocalSettings.php to the live wiki.
Let me know.
Dan

I accept that the administrative overhead of keeping subversion up to date with every modification outweighs the benefits, but with the current situation anyone trying to use the clone to help develop CZ would be testing things on a configuration that does not match the live CZ. This may reduce the effectiveness of the testing in some cases, and result in bugs appearing once it is moved to the test wiki for testing.
