You could prune all non-announcement replies from that thread, and then lock it. That way only administrators would be able to post in it.

I am trying to keep the Tech Staff Announcements thread limited to announcements, but people
 keep replying to its posts (turning it into Tech Staff Discussions). There is actually nothing that prevents you from posting an announcement there, but at least for now I would appreciate it if you would run what you want to announce past me. This could be relaxed in the future. Go ahead and make an announcement about LocalSettings.php on Tech Staff Announcements (although I would guess 99.9% of CZers will have no idea what you are talking about).

[[CZ:Technical/LocalSettings.php]] is now live. I shall update [[CZ:Technical]] in a moment. Should this also be announced on the forums (or is cz-tech sufficient), and if so should this come from you Dan? I'm not sure who is authorised to post announcements in the announcements thread.

I'll post that enhancement request and get discussion started soon.
