[SharedKnowing] Wikimedia to adopt a stricter porn policy?

I don't think you're getting my point, David: you insist that the only
limitation on the amount of porn should be whatever is allowed "in the most
permissive practical jurisdiction." This indicates that you're thinking of
this as a legal matter. I was not. Now, maybe the law is in fact
influencing Wales--we don't know if the FBI or IRS has scared him into doing
this, or what. But quite aside from the law, there's the separate question
of whether it is *reasonable* to limit the *amount* of porn. Why should
Commons become a massive repository of porn? It's nonsense to answer *that*
question by saying, "Because the law, somewhere where the servers can be
located, permits it." Perhaps you are taking the position that Commons is
somehow morally obligated to take *all* media from *all* comers (so to
speak)? If not--if there are some reasonable restrictions, because it has
an educational and reference mission--then on what grounds do you defend
your frankly silly position that Jimmy Wales should let Commons become a
giant porn repository?
