I think we need the charter now to continue on our path to an independent, polite, democratic and trustworthy encyclopedia on the web. As a scientist my main motivation for contributing to the citizendium is to create a trustworthy and citeable compendium of open knowledge. I believe that the charter will help to form a community that can achieve this goal.
