Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! D. Matt Innis 02:12, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Pompeii
Thanks for correcting the Pompeii article. I'm hoping to add a few more paragraphs, would you be interested in proofreading it once I'm done? Richard Nevell 20:20, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- That's much appreciated. I sometimes find I read what I meant to write rather than what's actually there. I'll let you know when it's in a fit state (more or less). Richard Nevell 17:58, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi Martin, the Pompeii article's expanded a bit and is now up for approval. I've gone through myself to iron out any glaring mistakes, and I'd really appreciate another pair of eyes if you've got time. Thanks, Richard Nevell 22:23, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
December 2012 elections
Would you be interested in being an author member of the Editorial Council? You can say no, of course, but so far we've only two nominees for the council, and they're both editors.-Derek Hodges 07:30, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
CZ:Featured article
Hi Martin, I noticed your message at CZ:Featured article. What Johan Forberg was referring to was that if you update what appears on the welcome page, the main article won't be updated unless you make an edit there too. I've looked over what happened with the Robert Burns article and the summary that appeared on the welcome page never got updated, so it appeared as Chubnum first put it up there [1]. What you did was update the article itself, so the article still appears as you intended.
The important point is that if you want the article to reflect what appears on the welcome page, you need to copy and paste the edits. I think you're right that this needs to be more prominent, the question is where to put the notice? Richard Nevell 20:47, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Acknowledgement from the Managing Editor
Martin, on behalf of Citizendium, I want to thank you for your continuing support of the project, through the many new articles you started and the regular monetary donations you have made.
I hope you joined the Citizendium-L mailing list (see link in the welcome note at the top of this page). Also hope you will contribute to the discussions in the Forum. Anthony.Sebastian 22:54, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
