France as host nation won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and they are currently (2019) the football world champions having won the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Among the most famous French footballers are Just Fontaine, Michel Platini, Zinedine Zidane, Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry.
