One could define academia as the environment or community concerned with the pursuit of research, education, and scholarship at college or university level.  Could this (or some similar definition) go in the article somewhere?  I scanned it quickly, so it it's there and missed it, I apologize in advance!Pat Palmer (talk) 13:22, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

:Maybe this could even be changed into a disambiguation page (along with its brief discussions). Not sure though. Pat Palmer (talk) 13:23, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
:Pat, The suggested definition is a good one and I will incorporate it. As I look at the welter of Wikipedia articles relating to this topic, it strikes me that they have preemptively drowned themselves and one another in an exquisitely (nearly infinite) rich broth of detail upon detail and competitive one-upmanship. There was even a bit of this in the original CZ entry (over the "real" nature of Plato's Academy). So with these revisions and additions, I've been trying to establish a straightforward entry aimed at readers who just want a brief, tightly written introduction to the topic.

Academia?
