Stephen Decatur [r]: A U.S. naval officer who led the U.S. navy during the Tripolitan War. In one of his raids, he and a detachment of marines boarded the USS Philadelphia, which had run aground off the coast of Tripoli, and burned the ship to the waterline. [e]
