::I hope we can work this out, Patrick. I've written, and am writing articles about significant books here, such as two by Francis Fukuyama. I haven't written about my own books, and Fukuyama, under our self-promotion rules, couldn't write about our books qua books. Content from them, in articles, yes. It would seem, from your bio,. that there's a wide range of articles to which you contribute, or original articles you might write. Perhaps I can help; I lived in the DC area for around 40 years. --Howard C. Berkowitz

Hi Patrick. Thank you for joining Citizendium. I've nominated Commercial Providence for speedy deletion because of the Citizendium policy on self-promotion - see CZ:Policy on Self-Promotion. We have no problem with there being articles on such topics, but you should probably get someone else to write them in a neutral tone. If someone other than yourself is interested in writing an article about either you or your work, we have a procedure in place to do just this - it is done through the CZ:Topic Informant Workgroup system, where a page is created in the 'TI' namespace for you to include material relevant to the article, and this is then used by a neutral author to build said article. I hope that clears things up. –Tom Morris 13:07, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Citizendium as a new author! We're very glad you've joined us. We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably also want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at Getting Started for other helpful "startup" pages, and at CZ:Home for a complete listing of help and other community pages. If you wish, just ask me to create a "personal sandbox" for you where you can test out editing and writing articles. If you need help to get going, it is a good idea to join our discussion forums. That's where we discuss policy, proposals or technical problems. You can ask any constable for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and thank you! We appreciate your willingness to share your expertise, and we hope to see you begin actively editing and contributing to Citizendium. Milton Beychok 04:21, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

About the article named "Patrick Mendis" that you created

Hello, Patrick:

You emailed me to ask for my help in formatting the article that you just created named "Patrick Mendis". As you said, it is clearly not formatted correctly at all and I could help you format it were it not for the fact that it is an article about yourself. Citizendium does not permit anyone to write articles about themselves. So I regret that I cannot help you and i will ask one of our Constables to delete it as soon as possible. Sorry, Milton Beychok 05:14, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Patrick. I have deleted the article Patrick Mendis as self-promotion is not allowed on Citizendium. I have moved the contents to 1 if you wish to keep it. --Chris Key 10:39, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

About the article Commercial Providence

Your email also asked for my help with the Commercial Providence article. I note that it is obviously an article copied from Wikipedia and that it was deleted from Wikipedia on August 29th for some reason. Would you be please explain why it was deleted from Wikipedia?

Is the article meant to be a book review? Or was it meant to be about your theory as explained in that book? Since I am not an editor in either our Politics or our History workgroups, I am going to ask one of our Politics workgroup editors to contact you here on your talk page about this article. His name is Howard C. Berkowitz.

Patrick, the best way to contact people at Citizendium is to post a message on their user discussion page (usually referred to as their Talk page) rather that by emails. In that way, all discussions are open to the entire community and are recorded on the History pages as well. Regards, Milton Beychok 05:30, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Two other editors in our Politics workgroup whom you might contact are Roger A. Lohmann and Martin Baldwin-Edwards. Milton Beychok 06:58, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
