I copied this from Wikipedia and removed the numerous errors and inaccuracies. For instance, Hartree did not use spinorbitals, but spatial orbitals. The definition of '''x''' was not given. I entered in the Wiki article a reference to Slater's original 1929 paper in Physical Review. I noticed that some brilliant Wikipedian found it necessary to change it to Physics. I copied this article from Wikipedia and removed numerous errors and inaccuracies. For instance, Hartree did not use spinorbitals, but spatial orbitals. The crucial definition of xi is not given. I entered in the Wiki article a reference to Slater's original 1929 paper in Physical Review. I noticed that some brilliant Wikipedian found it necessary to change it to Physics. Review. Somebody entered an expression with det in the Wiki version which is completely incomprehensible and wasn't there when I last looked.
