The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) is a Special Operating Agency within the Department of Canadian Heritage of the Government of Canada. Its particular responsibility involves the conserving and preservation of cultural heritage such as museum collections and archives of historical documents.
The Institute was created in 1972 to promote the proper care and preservation of Canada's moveable cultural heritage and to advance the practice, science, and technology of conservation.
