Bujold is known for creating science fictions novels in a recurring universe with recurring characters. She has created at least three recurring worlds.
Her first, and most famous, set of recurring characters are in the Vorkosigan universe, which is pure science fiction. Her two additional recurring universes (Sharing Knife, and Penric and Desdemona) fall within the fantasy realm.
