Little Boy was the codename of the first atomic bomb used against Japan in World War II. It was air-dropped onto Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, destroying the city in the same way as Nagasaki in a second strike three days later. The Japanese surrendered on 14 August to end the Second World War.
