Gene Wolfe (1931 – 2019) was an American science fiction best remembered for having produced a series of books known as The Book of the New Sun (1980-1983).[1] Wolfe was a veteran of the Korean War, and, subsequently, spent most of his life as a full time editor of technical journals, in engineering. However, he routinely spent an hour working on his science fiction stories, prior to going to work.
Wolfe also published the book The Island of Doctor Death and Other Stories and Other Stories (1980), short story The Death of Doctor Island (1973), and other works[2].
