I am currently an engineer working with the US Navy developing aircraft launch and recovery systems for carriers. I am a very recent graduate gaining a BS in mechanical engineering while competing collegiately as a swimmer. This job requires me to have knowledge of finite element analysis and material strength in addition to general design procedures and implementations.
Since 2000, I have used the linux operating system and have gained some basic proficiency in programming, but I only occasionally contribute code to various projects. Recently I have been particularly interested in the NIXOS project (http://nixos.org/nixos/) and have submitted a few patches to improve it.
In my spare time I work with different forms of alternative energy, specifically helical cross-flow wind and water powered turbines. A video of my most recent project can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0g7t4tS7ZE .
