Tao Qian

Tao Qian, (or Tao Yuan-ming) was a Chinese poet who lived in 365-427 during the Eastern Jìn Dynasty. His family was poor but well-educated, enabling Tao Qian to read novels and classic confucian literature. Due to poverty, he was forced to work for the goverment which he later decided to redraw from in favour of spending the rest of his life on a farm. His poetry was written during this period and mostly touch on the subjects of nature and the everyday life of a farmer. He has been said to write in a clear state of mind, entering the realm of pure poetry.
