rewritten

I rewrote the article because it was pretty much just a bullet list beforehand, and it seems noone else was actively developing the article. If I did a bad job, I apologize as this was my first edit. I hope it is in good enough shape for other people to elaborate on it. It could use some treatment by a professor. I'm just a student and this pretty much is the extent of my knowledge of this particular topic.

algebraic function

Some people define "algebraic function" to mean any function defined implicitly by an algebraic (polynomial) equation. E.g. the equation

gives x as a function of y explicitly and y as a function of x implicitly. Perhaps this should be edited accordingly. I'll be back..... Michael Hardy 21:01, 30 April 2007 (CDT)
