About me

I'm a musicologist at Harvard University where I'm working on my PhD entitled "Music, Politics, and the Public Sphere: Berlin from the late 18th to the early 19th centuries." My research interests include:

  • Music and Commerce
  • Music in German speaking lands around 1800
  • Radio and Music
  • Music and Politics
  • 15th-century chansons
  • Music during World War II
  • Music and Computers
  • German music after 1945
  • Ambrosian Chant

I have curated an exhibition on "The Century of Bach and Mozart" at Houghton Library at Harvard University in 2005. A more recent project is SCRIBE, a database of music copyists and a program that enables similarity searches of music handwriting.

Before coming to Harvard in 2002 I studied classical guitar with Eliot Fisk at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
