Part of, vs. feeder to, EMR?

I would question if CPOE is part of EMR, or more of an input to it. I've built both kinds of systems, as well as nursing workflow systems that may be driven by orders in the EMR, but not directly from EPOE. The nursing system, incidentally, also puts information into the EMR as well as takes it out.

There is a tendency to use "EMR" to cover all of clinical informatics, which I find misleading. Howard C. Berkowitz 16:47, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
