Computers author
Hey man just gotta say thank god there's finally another active Computers Workgroup author... it was getting kind of lonely in here between me and the other 1 or 2 guys lol --Eric M Gearhart 11:44, 6 April 2007 (CDT)
Haha man we are kicking butt, seriously! Biology Workgroup, look out lol http://en.citizendium.org/wiki?title=Special:Recentchangeslinked&target=Category:Computers_Workgroup --Eric M Gearhart 14:52, 6 April 2007 (CDT)
Just click on on the bottom of your user page. That will take you to the 'Computers Workgroup' page. There you see the "Computers Workgroup" template. Right under all articles, there's a "Recent Changes" link. That links is specifically for articles tagged "Computers Workgroup" that have changed recently... it won't list all edits, just "Computers Workgroup" edits
Also if I were you I'd take all the "crap" out of your discussion page that the Editors throw on when you first join... it just makes it harder to read :) --Eric M Gearhart 15:06, 6 April 2007 (CDT)
Recently uploaded image(s)
Hi. Thanks for contributing to CZ! I hate to have to tell you this but one or more images you recently uploaded are lacking clear copyright data. Please carefully review the image(s) you uploaded while referencing Images Help—Copyrights. Please fix the problem rapidly, as the image(s) will otherwise have to be deleted. Thanks! — Stephen Ewen 04:25, 8 April 2007 (CDT)
- See Help:Images#Images_by_permission_and_documenting_releases. This lacks with Image:Gnome_screenshot.png and needs fixing. Thanks! — Stephen Ewen 12:30, 8 April 2007 (CDT)
Linux compared to Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X
Hey I threw a comment up at Talk:Linux about the screenshot change --Eric M Gearhart 12:57, 8 April 2007 (CDT)
praise for Linux and Linux kernel effort
I appreciate the work you and Eric M Gearhart are pouring into the Linux pages. It is my intention to help out; however, I'm about to have to "go away" and dive into real work for two or possibly three weeks. So please don't be discouraged if I'm unresponsive. I expect to be back. I image you two will have conquered the world by then :-)Pat Palmer 04:53, 9 April 2007 (CDT)
Eric conspiracy
lol yes I've known about the Eric conspiracy for some time... never got around to emailing ESR and getting on the page though :) --Eric M Gearhart 06:48, 9 April 2007 (CDT)
commenting
Josh, with this <!----- comment ----> you can comment something. For the to be approved tag there is a due date set. Any change in the page leads to a new ID, you can retrieve these using the history tab for the lastest version. You only replace the ID number with the new one and thats all to it. The Toapprove template needs being enhanced by at least two otheer editors, so you can ask two others to add their name to the tag I inserted. cheers. Robert Tito | Talk 13:43, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
w00t!
Do you realize if the Tux article gets approved it'll be the first approved Computers article on CZ? w00t! lol --Eric M Gearhart 13:49, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
Tux/Draft
Joshua, once the original gets approved it will be copied to Tux/Draft by the constable. Any edits that you make to that page now will get overwritten when it is moved (unless someone makes some heroic efforts). I would suggest you keep making changes to the original. The Approval template points to the version that gets approved, any changes that you make to it now won't show up in the Tux approved version, but they will still be transferred to Tux/Draft. Make sense. Keep working over at Tux and we'll move it over to Tux/Draft when it gets approved. Keep up the good work! Congrats on your first approval (hopefully!) --Matt Innis (Talk) 16:54, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
- Josh, the help pages about approcing an article in the help pages must be followed. Only editors are allowed to create a draf page and ONLY after an article has been approved. Yes only editors can do it. To get the toapprove tag really forceful, you need one or two other editors to have the same opinion. The fourth (ideealy) can then approve the article at the due date creating the draft article in the process. Being enthusiastic is no sin, creating way many drafts will give us cluttering and no streamline. Nevertheless I do hope other editors will join me in the toapprove and approve status. Good work on the move. Notice I also did Linux/Draft as well. Looking good. --Matt Innis (Talk) 17:45, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
do not modify the templates
Josh, as I stated previously editors approve and set an approval date, you can ask a template to be changed but do not do it on your own. It is the same as every author putting a toapprove or approved template on a page without any editor to be involved. The citizendium rules are very clear about it, and that distinguishes us from WP. check Project Home. Yes it takes more time but it ensures quality and for that reason you joined CZ.
