I copied this article from Wikipedia and removed numerous errors and inaccuracies. For instance, Hartree did not use spinorbitals, but spatial orbitals. The crucial definition of x_i was not given. I entered in the Wiki article a reference to Slater's original 1929 paper in Physical Review. I noticed that some Wikipedian changed it to Physics. Review. Somebody entered an expression with det in the Wiki version which is completely out of place and in wrong fonts. --Paul Wormer 07:38, 18 August 2007 (CDT)
