Bearing only mode is a paradigm for guided missiles, in which they follow neither the go-onto-target or go-to-location-in-space modes, which presume the impact point of the missile is known, or that the target will be designated before final impact. This mode is "fire and forget" and requires independent target seeking on the missile. An example of a anti-shipping missile with such capability is the AGM-84 Harpoon.
