A system of alternative medicine that uses minute, specially prepared doses of substances that stimulate the body's natural healing processes, which when given in large doses to healthy individuals, causes a combination of symptoms similar to those of the condition to be treated. The fundamental premises of homeopathy are considered by mainstream science to be unproven.
