Pythons are large, non-poisonous, carnivorous snakes belonging to the Pythonidae family.
Manner of killing
The python kills by squeezing its prey and thereby suffocating it. It mainly preys on small mammals though some have been known to eat small pigs and goats.
Location
They are found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Pacific islands.
Examples
- The reticulated python, the largest snake known reaching sizes of up to 10 metres long.
- Indian python
- Ball python, which can roll into a ball and be rolled along the ground.
