User talk:Martin Wyatt
Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! D. Matt Innis 02:12, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Pompeii
Thanks for correcting the Pompeii article. I'm hoping to add a few more paragraphs, would you be interested in proofreading it once I'm done? Richard Nevell 20:20, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- That's much appreciated. I sometimes find I read what I meant to write rather than what's actually there. I'll let you know when it's in a fit state (more or less). Richard Nevell 17:58, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi Martin, the Pompeii article's expanded a bit and is now up for approval. I've gone through myself to iron out any glaring mistakes, and I'd really appreciate another pair of eyes if you've got time. Thanks, Richard Nevell 22:23, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
December 2012 elections
Would you be interested in being an author member of the Editorial Council? You can say no, of course, but so far we've only two nominees for the council, and they're both editors.-Derek Hodges 07:30, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
CZ:Featured article
Hi Martin, I noticed your message at CZ:Featured article. What Johan Forberg was referring to was that if you update what appears on the welcome page, the main article won't be updated unless you make an edit there too. I've looked over what happened with the Robert Burns article and the summary that appeared on the welcome page never got updated, so it appeared as Chubnum first put it up there [1]. What you did was update the article itself, so the article still appears as you intended.
The important point is that if you want the article to reflect what appears on the welcome page, you need to copy and paste the edits. I think you're right that this needs to be more prominent, the question is where to put the notice? Richard Nevell 20:47, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Nomination for the Editorial Council
You have been nominated for an Author seat on the Editorial Council in the July-August Special Election. The nominator was myself. To accept or decline this nomination, please visit the Nominations page by midnight UTC on July 27th. You may write an election statement for each if you wish (linked from the Nominations page).
The Editorial Council seat expires on December 31st, 2013. In the event that Referendum 1 is passed, all seats will expire on June 30th, 2014. Thanks! John Stephenson 17:25, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for accepting my nomination. I realise that you did so reluctantly, but I can say having previously occupied the seat that it doesn't have to take up much of your time. John Stephenson 12:59, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
CZC Prop
Good point. The charter does not grant the power to "invest". Russell D. Jones 01:20, 1 October 2013 (UTC) - from the peanut gallery....
Dartmoor
Sorry for the delay in replying, I rather got sidetracked. As it stands it's good. This piece from the BBC might add a bit of context, such as the number of cists on Dartmoor and the fact that while the organic material rare for the Bronze Age full stop it was the first such find on Dartmoor. History of agriculture Talk page
Thanks for your info. There was an error in the redirection. I had to replace your comment with a redirect, but a copy is below - it could go on the main Talk page for the article. John Stephenson (talk) 20:09, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- This article as it stands is incomplete in ways that create radical imbalance. The discussion of agriculture in Europe jumps from prehistory to the Middle Ages. After the Origins section, the bulk of Asia is totally ignored, as is sub-Saharan Africa. There is no mention of the 17th century developments in technique which made it possible (a) to over-winter cattle, so leading to a great increase in meat production, and (b) to feed very large numbers of people not engaged in agriculture themselves, without which the industrial revolution could not have happened.
Wanted articles
Hi - I think you mean CZ:Wanted articles. John Stephenson (talk) 14:12, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
Norse Mythology
I noticed you started the article Norse Mythology, and I'm excited about it. Will look forwards to reading it. So glad you are still writing in CZ!Pat Palmer (talk) 14:39, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for the kind words. I doubt whether the article is very exciting: I may develop it a bit.--Martin Wyatt (talk) 19:29, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
