Dilawar was suspended like this for days, prior to his death.
 
His guards and interrogators acknowledged delivering [[peroneal strike]]s to his legs for kicks.  Staff soon concluded he was innocent of playing a role in the missile attack that triggered his arrest.
 
A military pathologist officially classed his death as a [[homicide]].  She wrote that the only other time she had seen someone's legs to badly damaged they had been run over by a bus.  If he had not died his legs would have had to have been amputated.
