Sajid Javid (born 5 December 1969) is a British MP. He is currently a back-bench MP. He held the posts of Chancellor of the Exchequer, and before that Home Secretary. In each case, he was the first Muslim to hold the post and was succeeded by the first Hindu to do so. He was the first Chancellor of the Exchequer never to deliver a budget since Iain Macleod, who died about a month after appointment in 1970.

He has announced that he will not be standing in the next general election. In the New Year Honours List for 2024 it was announced he is to be knighted.
