Liberalism

Denis, I'll try and take a look at your article this weekend! Stephen Saletta 13:14, 4 April 2008 (CDT)

I'm bothering everyone--what are friends for? hee hee

Since you're always on the lookout for new articles, can you have a read of Miniature Fox Terrier and comment if you're so inclined? Thanks! Aleta Curry 02:34, 14 April 2008 (CDT)

Aleta again. Thanks awfully for the vote for New DOTW, I see it's up on the Main Page this week. I'm delighted and embarrassed at the same time. Aleta Curry 21:45, 23 April 2008 (CDT)

So, I was being nosy..

Saw your post on David Green's page, so I figured I'd point you to CZ:Editorial Council Resolution 0005 which sets the guidelines for what type of English should be used. I noticed in the metadata for Spanish Civil War that no one has set the language. I'm not familiar with the article's history, but it seems like if you have been the one to develop it past a stub, you can make that call. --Todd Coles 12:49, 27 April 2008 (CDT)

Thats fine. It was an introductory paragraph before I got my hands on it, and I gave a very rough and brief rundown of the main events etc. on the rest. I'm generally indifferent either way, I don't share the same language-nationalism many of our British friends have (Since I'm Irish :-)) Denis Cavanagh 14:07, 27 April 2008 (CDT)

Spanish Civil War [edit] Thanks for the much needed spelling and grammar corrections to the Spanish Civil War article i've been working on. I'm curious, however, as to why British English is been translated to American English; e.g, Favour to favor. Its not a big problem of course, but may be in the future as Citizendium grows. Regards, Denis Cavanagh 12:42, 27 April 2008 (CDT)

The article was mixed and I was attemting to make it consistent. Feel free to change it, if I was in error. David L Green 13:34, 27 April 2008 (CDT)

Grammar

Sorry, I'm not picking on you - you are one of the few who are writing on these historical topics. Think of it as collaboration, not persecution...(and don't forget I'm a newspaper editor by occupation). I miss things too. The best editing is done with about two passes, then turning it over to another editor. The hardest of all editing is done to your own work. My staff has to copyedit anything I write. I tell them that even an editor needs an editor. Good work on the articles and thanks for contributing. David L Green 21:41, 29 April 2008 (CDT)

Rousseau

I had a brief look at the page. My feeling is that we remember Rousseau for some important philosophical ideas and texts, and the personal stuff is interesting but peripheral. The WP article on Rousseau looks surprisingly good on his political philosophy, so I would recommend using a fair bit of that if you don't know the stuff yourself. I am no expert on political philosophy, but one of my uni tutors (Robert Wokler) was a world authority on him, so I did learn a little about the guy. My advice would be to go easy on the biographical stuff and explain to readers why Rousseau is remembered, even today. Martin Baldwin-Edwards 19:45, 7 May 2008 (CDT)
