Jon Stewart (born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz; November 28, 1962) is an American political satirist, writer, television host, actor, media critic and stand-up comedian. He is most famously known as the host of The Daily Show, a news satire show on Comedy Central. Stewart began his career in stand-up comedy, but eventually performed on television, starting as the host of Short Attention Span Theater for Comedy Central. He then hosted You Wrote It, You Watch It on MTV. In 1999, Stewart became the anchor for The Daily Show, replacing former host Craig Kilborn.
