La Oreja de Van Gogh is a Spanish pop band from Donostia-San Sebastian. It formed in 1996 with original members Pablo Benegas, Álvaro Fuentes, Xabi San Martín, Haritz Garde and Amaia Montero. The band has been commercially successful worldwide, with each of their albums selling a million copies. In 2006 its album Guapa won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, Duo or Group.
Former lead singer Amaia Montero announced in December 2007 that she would be leaving the group to pursue a solo singing career. After a casting call for a new lead singer, La Oreja de Van Gogh selected Factor X participant Leire Martínez as their new lead.
