Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins are a Major League Baseball team based in the Minneapolis-St. Paul twin cities area of Minnesota. The team was founded in 1901 as the Washington Senators, one of the inaugural teams in the American League. The team moved to Minnesota and became the Twins starting with the 1961 season. Championships
The team has had a total of three championship-winning seasons since the beginning of major-league baseball's modern World Series in 1903, winning the World Series in 1924, 1987, and 1991. [5] They were also American League champions, but lost in the World Series, three times, in 1925, 1933, and 1965.
Locations and Nicknames
Since the team's inception in 1901, they have been based in two different cities: Washington, D.C. (1901-1960), and Minneapolis, Minnesota (1961-present). They have played their home games at the following stadiums. [6] [7]
