Talk:Archive:Ready for approval
This is a really good idea, but needs a prominent link from somewhere so that people check it. It is not enough to tell editors to put it on their Watch list, and besides, we want authors to put suggested articles here, don't we? Martin Baldwin-Edwards 23:41, 4 January 2008 (CST)
- I agree. I was holding off on publicizing it until I got some feedback from the executive committee mailing list, which has now started to roll in. I'll make the necessary posts to the forums and changes to the wiki in the morning. --Joe Quick 03:09, 5 January 2008 (CST)
- Wherever it ends up tomorrow, in the longer run, this page is a perfect candidate for use with a certain extension that places a new toolbox on the left that displays only to those with contributor rights status. Stephen Ewen 03:41, 5 January 2008 (CST)
I'm all in favor of this page, but I want to caution ya'll as I cautioned Joe that we intend to re-engineer the approval process... --Larry Sanger 09:25, 5 January 2008 (CST)
Please check article carefully
There are some on here which are clearly not ready for approval whatsoever, including a stub. --Robert W King 15:34, 6 January 2008 (CST)
- Yes, I noticed that. Should we create a "manager" position for someone who is empowered to remove articles from the list? Editors from the relevant workgroups are already allowed to do so, but I don't think any old person should be allowed to take one down. --Joe Quick 00:07, 7 January 2008 (CST)
getting the ball rolling
Big thanks to Martin Baldwin-Edwards and Roger Lohmann for getting the ball rolling! I did some minor pestering of Dr. Lohmann a couple of weeks ago, so it isn't a "pure" result of this page's debut, but I think the approval of Andrew Carnegie, which is set to be finalized sometime today, is a good first step! Let's see if we can keep up the momentum! (This message cross-posted to the forums.)--Joe Quick 07:40, 7 January 2008 (CST)
I think it should be made clear what the icons mean
What *exactly* do the icons to the left of each item mean? If you can put them there in the first place, it ought to be possible to also put them across the top of the screen with an explanation for each kind. Thanks! Hayford Peirce 17:31, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
