Talk:German Resistance
Is the thrust of the lead accurate?`
After several readings, I have the sense that this article is suggesting that the only effective resistance was that which led to the ultimately futile 20th of July plot. That certainly was not the only path taken by resisters. Some, like the Stolls, were essentially symbolic.
More effective, although in varying extents, were those that concluded that Hitler could not be overthrown internally, so their form of resistance principally took the form of providing intelligence to the Allies. See, for example, Oslo Report, or the various espionage networks and informal collaborations including Trepper's Red Orchestra and the Abwehr leaks.
I believe the lead needs to be rewritten to reflect that "spies" may, in fact, have been carrying out ultimate acts of patriotism, possibly with more effectiveness than the noble, tragic, but futile group around von Stauffenberg. Howard C. Berkowitz 16:37, 29 September 2008 (CDT)
