Talk:Pluto (dwarf planet)
Status
No longer a stub, it exceeds 350 words in length --Thomas Simmons 21:09, 1 November 2007 (CDT)
Good job on these planet articles, fellows--as an amateur astronomer (sort of), I appreciate them. --Larry Sanger 20:53, 8 November 2007 (CST)
Rename
Shifted to new title with redirect from previous --Thomas Simmons 13:41, 20 November 2007 (CST)
My apologies but when I shifted this to the new title I did not copy the discussion notes for the article under the old heading. If there is anyway to make sure the contributors and the originator can get proper credit I hope someone can retrieve the content of the history and the notes for the original heading. Once again, sorry if your contributions got lost. --Thomas Simmons 16:17, 20 November 2007 (CST)
Chronos?
Actually the cartoons perhaps predate the planet..? Ro Thorpe 18:29, 27 January 2008 (CST)
Moves
On my user page, Noel wrote:
- Hi, I see you did a cut-and-paste move of Pluto to Pluto (planet) (it has since been moved to Pluto (dwarf planet)). Cut-and-paste moves divorce the page contents from the history, which we really need to keep, because people may have reason to inspect it (e.g. for copyright legal reasons), so if you could not do any more that way (there's that "move' tab for rthat), that would really be appreciated. Thanks! J. Noel Chiappa 19:55, 23 May 2008 (CDT)
Wow, that was what, more than 6 months ago?
Yea, that was a mess. I see that others have tried to move it with similarly chaotic results. Were we able to restore all the history from the original stub?
My problem is that the move as desired is not at all clear from the instructions. Have you got a line on the manual of "how to do"? I would like to read it and avoid similar problems next time.--Thomas Simmons 17:28, 31 May 2008 (CDT)
- Yes, the history has all been put back together; it wasn't too hard, actually (half at Pluto, the rest here).
- We have some drafty instructions on how to move a CZ:Cluster, but I need to improve them and move them to a page on their own so they're easy to find. I'll do that tomorrow, and drop you a pointer to the new page. J. Noel Chiappa 21:36, 31 May 2008 (CDT)
Noel, Ta. I am very keen to see that contributions are fully credited and that will be a big help. Not that I intend to shift things much in future.--Thomas Simmons 17:46, 14 June 2008 (CDT)
Pluto classified now as dwarf planet, not planet?
This article could stand to be updated with a discussion of when, and how come, pluto got declassified as a planet, and is (I think) now considered only a "dwarf planet" (whatever that is).Pat Palmer (talk) 20:06, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
