Talk:Television Station Paul Nipkow
Unless this station is referred to in English as "Television Station Paul Nipkow," then the title of the article should be Paul Nipkow Fernsehsender. --Larry Sanger 00:01, 1 December 2006 (CST)
Article title
Ok, if that's the editorial policy, so be it -- but my own preference would be for the English phrase. Wikipedia compensates for this with its elaborate system of aliases in multiple languages, but to my mind, an English encyclopedia should translate foreign words and phrases. We don't call the Eiffel Tower "La Tour Eiffel" and using the German name of the Nipkow station will only make it less likely to turn up in searches (the WP article on this subject is classed as "orphaned" because so few pages interlink with it -- I suspect because of the article's use of "Fernsehsender" in its title instead of the English phrase "television station").

- I'm inclined to agree with Russell Potter... when (hopefully) there is a de.citizendium.org then on that wiki it can have the German name. --Eric M Gearhart 04:47, 11 April 2007 (CDT)
