Ah, but what about Otas?

Seriously, in high school, Peter (registered name Graf Peter von Pfanne) my dog was a miniature dachshund, "rabbit" dachshund variety. We got him from a breeder as a pet, as he had been born without testicles; it always made us wonder why we had to sign an agreement never to breed him. That also meant, however, he never grew beyond puppy-size (well, 4 pounds).

But, as I understand, he was officially a hunting dog. Mind you, he once cornered the local feral rabbit, about five times his size, who eventually hopped broadside into Peter, knocking him several feet. It took several days to coax him out from the couch.

Color me confused. Of course, Pekinese were attack dogs... Howard C. Berkowitz 00:30, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

And would any self-respecting dog historian put the dackie on a list of toy dogs, fer cryin' out loud?
Dachshunds are hounds, or terriers, to some, though I'm not convinced.
Of course Peter was a hunting dog!!
