Tityos [r]: From Greek mythology, he was a giant, and son of Elara and Zeus. Zeus hid Elara from his wife Hera by placing her deep beneath the earth where she bore him; the goddess Gaia is also thought to be the mother of Tityos. Hera urged him to try to rape Leto but he was undone by Apollo and Artemis. He was punished by being taken to Hades and tortured by two vultures who ate his liver, similar to the fate of the Titan Prometheus. [e]
