I am a mother of 4 children, a 10 year old daughter, 9 year old son, and 8 year old twin boys. I am currently a stay-at-home mom and spend some of my time volunteering at my children's elementary school. I went to college and earned 70 credit hours in pre-pharmacy classes. I did not stay to earn a degree because I had planned to go on to a pharmacy school and only needed the pre-requisites to enter, not a degree. I changed my mind about going on to pharmacy school in favour of starting a family. I also became disenchanted with the pharmcists role in patient care and decided I would be much happier as a technician and more able to help people directly. I have worked as a pharmacy technician for over 20 years and always found it very rewarding. I am currently not working so that I may be more available for my children. Their education is extremely important to me and as they are all very bright and advanced students I felt that I should be there to guide them more to make sure they get the most out of school. I teach my children at home during the summer break to prepare them for the upcoming school year and the grade specific topics they will be learning. I have found that by teaching them all summer it keeps their minds fresh and active and they start the school year at the top of their class and stay that way throughout the year. The teachers in their school were all quite curious about why my children all did so well academically and when I told them what we do in the summer then the teachers began using my strategies with their own children. We go on nature hikes and examine everything we see then use the internet to look up and answers to questions that come up while we are hiking. This has helped spark interest in science.

We also raise several animals and my children help care for all of them. We have three minaiture daschunds, 4 cats, and a bearded dragon. We all love animals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds of all kinds. My children love and respect nature and are interested in their world.
