The first 20 years, until 2001, I worked as an information technology specialist and consultant. In 1990, besides my work I started a 12 year in-depth study, research and practice of Indo-Tibetan metaphysics, wisdom, contemplative and healing traditions; Systems Thinking & Theory and Process Philosophy. I also investigated related sciences like education, medicine and psychology and more. A question that lingered in my mind was: ‘why would someone need to develop him/herself to become that which s/he already is?’ My starting-point was that everyone’s awareness could be awakened to elicit a transformational process of inner growth.

Based on my graduate work and (self) research that regarded 'meta-awareness' and 'identity shifts', in 2002 I started my contribution to the development of the body of knowledge, tools and practice of what is now referred to as Applied Consciousness Science. Applied Consciousness Science awakens Right Mindfulness or Meta-awareness and the capacity of Self-Exploring & Learning from Feedback or SELF in individuals. My strength lies in developing a long-term vision related to the study, research and practice of Applied Consciousness Science and Self-Exploring & Learning from Feedback.

Based on my transdisciplinary background I focus on contributing towards a more sustainable world by bringing together different fields, theories and practices to assist learner on their journey towards wholeness. This is why since 1993 I founded different institutes in The Netherlands, Curacao and in the USA to support this effort. This is also why I’m now founding the International Institute for Consciousness Studies and developing its international centers and network.
