My name is George Krieger, and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have often described myself as a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none. As a child, I enjoyed learning information is all subjects, a hobby that has persisted to my adulthood. My natural empathy lead me to pursue a B.A. in psychology at the Johns Hopkins University, after which I spent ten years working in the child welfare system in the housing projects of Chicago. Along the way, I picked up a Masters degree in Social Work from the Jane Addams College of Social Work. I began working as a practicing psychotherapist, first in child welfare, then in residential treatment, and finally in my current position in a private, therapeutic day-school in the Chicago suburbs. I am currently the ‘clinical and risk assessment coordinator’ of the school, which is a fancy way of saying I am in charge of everything the director doesn’t want to do, which includes clinical supervision, crisis intervention, and processing Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for each student.
I am currently pursuing a second Masters degree, this one in education, from National-Louis University. The ultimate goal of this degree is to obtain a Type 75 certification from the Illinois State Board of Education which will allow me to be the principal of school someday.
My hobbies are eclectic, but tend to be 'geek-oriented', such as Dungeons & Dragons, karaoke, astrology, and video games.
