After serving in the US Navy 1945-6, I matriculated at Washington University
(St. Louis) graduating in 1950. I received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the
University of Kansas in 1953, following this with two years Postdoctoral work
at Purdue University. I then joined the Faculty in Chemistry at the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln, working up through the ranks to full professor in 1964.
My main research interests are in the areas of physical chemistry, chemical
physics, and quantum chemistry. I retired from teaching in 1994 and received
a courtesy emeritus appointment in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Since, I have been collaborating with several colleagues in the Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics group. I am author or co-author of over 115 articles in refereed journals and a book in the Cambridge Press Chemical Physics Series.
