I am 72 yo (10/05/1939) physician scientist. I've had rather varied life and work experiences. Attended University of Tennessee (Knoxville) - started out in Chemical Engineering; during third year switched the premed and graduated with BS (microbiology/chemistry) 1962. Attended University of Kentucky College of Medicine-MD 1966. Rotating internship Travis Air Force Base, CA. Assigned to Tachikawa Air Force Base near Tokyo,Japan X 3 years. Multiple short assignments in Asia including Kunsan AB, South Korea. Last US Air Force assignment as Director, Base Medical Services Ellington Air Force Base, Texas. Worked with the Harris County Public Health system, then partner in private group practice Houston, Texas (General Practice) By `1974 began with Emergency Medicine group eventually Director of a series of Emergency Departments, culminating in assignment as Director of Level II Trauma Center in Lake Charles, LA, and Co-Director of Emergency Medical Services, Southwest Region, Louisiana. Joined US Navy 1985 to train at the Undersea Medical Institute Groton, CT and certified as Deep Sea Mixed-gas Diver, at Panama City, FL. Served as Undersea Medical Officer, USS Orion, based at Sardinia, Italy / Assistant Surgeon, Sixth Fleet, Naples Italy / Medical Officer USS Arkansas / served on the Command Ship - USS Coronado / staff Emergency Physician National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD / created the Department of Military Medicine, National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD / earned Master of Public Health at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD 1990. Residency training in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine at University of Hawaii School of Public Health, Honolulu, HI 1992 / Epidemiologist, Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit No. 6, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Recruited to create the position of Chief Consultant for Clinical and Operational Medicine at the Armed Forces Medical Intelligence Center, for the Defense Intelligence Agency 21994-1999. Have been principal investigator in disease outbreaks in Okinawa and Singapore, traveled to secret military research laboratories in Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia. Performed epidemiological study of hepatitis in Republic of Palau. Consulted for Top Secret military / CIA / and "black" programs within the intelligence communities involving wide range of scientific expertise...

Active practice of Travel Medicine in numerous settings in US and foreign facilities Clinical Professorships at University of Hawaii School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, University of Hawaii School of Public Health Board Certified in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine Board Certified in Emergency Medicine Discharged with 20 years honorable service as CAPTAIN (ret), Medical Corps, US Navy

Many papers written over the years on stress / coping, violence in the emergency department, Preventive Medicine in the Field for the Army Surgeon General in Military Preventive Medicine, outbreak of Japanese encephalitis in Okinawa and Singapore, wrote or edited all medical related subjects from the Defense Intelligence Agency aimed at the Executive and Legislative bodies of the US government.

My time with the intelligence community (Defense Intelligence Agency) and responsibilities with reporting to the president ant congress for 5 years, investigating outbreaks, and having done research in public health issues may provide on more piece as a contributor to the group may or may not be helpful. I’ve written on stress, diseases, and the reporting of quacks who play on the fears and misguided beliefs of the populace.
