Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Bruce M. Tindall 17:34, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Welcome to the Computers workgroup!
Your interest in Haskell and functional programming certainly can help. While it isn't my subspecialty, I checked and found we had only a starting article on the discipline and nothing on the Haskell programming language itself. I did a bit of cleanup on the FP article.Howard C. Berkowitz 23:42, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- We have a rule that actively discourages article importing from Wikipedia, unless it's text you wrote there. This doesn't seem identical to the WP Haskell article, so what parts come from there? We do want the article to be an improvement over WP, and I'll help however I can. Howard C. Berkowitz 03:28, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- I looked at the Wikipedia article for ideas on what to write, as well as the Citizendium guidelines on how to write it. The Wikipedia wasn't anything near to cut-n-paste, as much as a guiding inspiration. However, it's close enough in organization that I thought it better to admit a link, no matter how tenuous. Welcome
Hi Walter, I saw on your user page that you have an interest in online role-playing games. If you are interested, we do have a Games Workgroup and a Video Games Subgroup. --Chris Key 17:23, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hello, Chris, and thank you for the heads-up! I may take you up on it, but I have so far noticed more places for me to contribute in the Computers Workgroup. Not that I won't join, just that I anticipate concentrating on the Computers stuff more for now. Walter Rorie-Baety 01:19, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
