William Hartnell

William Hartnell (8th January 1908 - 23rd April 1975) was an English actor, best known as the first to take on the lead role in the British science fiction series Doctor Who, from 1963 to 1966. He also had a lengthy film career, mainly as a supporting artist, and notably appeared as a gruff sergeant-major in the 1950s comedy series The Army Game.
