The Citizendium (sit-ih-ZEN-dee-um), a "citizens' compendium of everything," is an experimental new wiki project. The project, started by a founder of Wikipedia, aims to improve on that model by adding "gentle expert oversight" and requiring contributors to use their real names. As of March 19, 2007, we were working on over 1,100 articles. One of our projects these days is The Big Cleanup. It's a good way to get acquainted with our work and help out. We should be launching into public view before the end of the month. Our apologies, but we have been waiting for the delivery of four new servers, which was delayed. | ||||||||||||||||

The Citizendium is like a lively bazaar, with authors and expert editors doing vigorous trade in words. Editors do not give top-down orders; they offer the occasional word of direction or advice, and can approve articles in their areas of expertise. Constables, who are barely needed in our very friendly community, ensure everything runs smoothly. These are all volunteers, contributing their time, energy, and professional expertise in support of a shared vision. |
